Paving Process
9 Step Paving Process
It’s important to understand paving installation as it can be a highly involved and complex process. Altogether, there are nine distinct steps involved in paving installation, and we’ve outlined them below to create an overview of how the process works.
Existing surfaces such as grass, existing bricks or concrete are uplifted and removed from site.
The cleared area is scarified and levels are obtained for the correct ware flow (Very Important)
The area is moistened and compacted with a plate compactor to form a good subbase for your new paving.
Bedding sand (River sand) is laid on top of sub base to form an even surface to bed the paving bricks.
Paving bricks are laid in your chosen pattern.
Cutting of the bricks wherever necessary, is done with an angle-grinder to ensure clean cut edges and corners.
All exposed borders are laid on a 50 mm bed of cement.
Grouting – A special wet mix of plaster sand and cement is swept over the newly paved area. Compaction is done at the same time to bed the bricks into the bedding layer and fille the joints from bottom to top to prevent the growth of grass and weeds.
Cleaning up of the site and removal of all final rubble.
